Link to downloadable Respect Marshall Code Of Conduct

The Respect Marshall Role has been introduced across all youth leagues in the county of Staffordshire. Respect Marshalls have a positive influence in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for young people to enjoy their football.

Your participation in the role of Respect Marshall is primarily to support the Referee, Team Manager and Coaches in promoting the Respect agenda and to remind your own parents and spectators of their responsibility to adhere to your Club and League Codes of Conduct.

The Respect Marshall should not be someone who comes into conflict with others and should be there to remind all that this is a youth game.

Respect Marshall Role

Each team must have a Respect Marshall who can be easily identified at matches by wearing the fluorescent Respect Bib.

This is a non-confrontational role. If a Marshall cannot resolve an issue easily, they must report it. This can be to the Team Manager, Referee, Club, Centre Manager, League or FA as appropriate.

The Respect Marshall will deal with and monitor the actions of their own supporters only.

The Respect Marshall should help to maintain a positive environment for the players, Referees, Team Managers/Coaches and Clubs.

The Referee is in charge of the match and makes all decisions regarding all aspects of the game to be played.

The Team Manager/Coach should remember that they have full responsibility for the conduct of all their players and spectators in attendance before, during and after the fixture.

The Club should ensure that all players and parents have seen and signed a Club Code of Conduct which outlines the expectations of their behavior during the season. Failure to control spectators may lead to disciplinary action by the FA and League.

Respect Marshalls are appointed by teams to help to monitor the highest standards of behavior possible from spectators.

Respect Marshalls need to be honest, fair and observant. Respect Marshalls should write clear notes from incidents as soon as possible afterwards which needs to include the actual language used for reporting purposes.
