The original committee who set up The Walsall Junior Youth Football League can not have imagined how the league would grow over the seasons and 75 years later there would be over 400 fixtures being played every week.

This really has been a team effort between all of us; your League Committee, clubs, teams, managers, parents, volunteers and players have all played a vital role in ensuring another successful season for the Walsall Junior Youth Football League.

The league continues to grow; last season we registered over 7,000 local children and there were increased numbers of teams across all age groups. It is a privilege for us to be able to offer a safe environment for so many youngsters to enjoy grassroots football.

As Chair of the League, I have been truly fortunate to have a committee of volunteers who between them have decades of experience and are so motivated to offer the best we can for our local community of junior football clubs.

Message from the Chair

They work tirelessly, often long into the night on various tasks; player and team registrations, planning fixtures (11,000 this season…), allocating referees, organising cups and trophy events, managing the finances and updating social media etc.

Unfortunately, we spend a significant amount of committee members’ time dealing with disciplinary issues. There are a persistent minority who are unable to watch and enjoy children playing junior football without abusing the opposition, berating an official or much worse.

As a league we will continue to do all we can to minimise this unacceptable behaviour. I would ask for support from clubs, teams, managers, players, referees and supporters to do all we can to improve standards and nullify this issue.

I would like to thank all the committee members for the support they have offered to all the clubs and teams. Their incredible efforts, commitment and endless enthusiasm ensure the smooth running of the league season after season.

A big thank you as well to all the referees. They turn up on a match day to control, manage and enjoy the game- without their help and support, the game would not be possible. I delighted that several of our referees have been promoted, and many have been chosen to officiate at The County Cup Finals.

One more group to also thank are the centre managers for the mini soccer and 9v9 venues. They set up the centres, sometimes in the most inclement weather, often when it is still dark, to ensure the teams are kicking off on time on a Sunday morning.

All our Cup Finals were well supported with record crowds. I would like to pass on my thanks to Sporting Khalsa, Chasetown and Rushall Olympic for the use of their excellent facilities. The Final Days for Mini Soccer and the 9v9’s were also an enormous success with hundreds of medals and numerous trophies presented.

I look forward to the next season with optimism and will be welcoming new volunteers to the committee of The Walsall Junior Youth Football League as we look to continue to grow and develop.

Finally, a BIG THANK YOU to all the players, without your commitment every week we would not have a league. I hope you have enjoyed the season, and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

David Cooper, Chair OF Walsall Junior Youth Football League, July 2025

  • What is Full Time
The Full-Time FA System refers to an online platform provided by the Football Association (FA) in the UK. It is designed to manage and support grassroots football by providing essential tools and information for leagues, clubs, teams, players, and match officials. Key Features and Uses: League and Fixture Management: The system allows leagues and clubs to manage fixtures, track results, and update league tables automatically. This is particularly useful for grassroots and amateur leagues where organization and communication are key. Team Administration: Clubs can manage player registrations, squad lists, and team sheets. The platform supports administrative tasks like confirming match details, reporting scores, and handling player transfers. Matchday and Referee Tools: Referees can use the platform to check their match appointments, record match results, and submit reports. The system also handles referee assignments and ensures matchday requirements are met. Player and Club Data: The Full-Time FA System maintains comprehensive databases of players, clubs, and teams, allowing for easier access to relevant information for all stakeholders involved. Communication Hub: The system acts as a communication tool where fixtures, updates, and important announcements can be shared directly between leagues, clubs, and players. Public Access: The platform also serves as a public-facing website where fans and players can view league tables, results, and upcoming fixtures. In essence, the Full-Time FA System simplifies the administration and organization of grassroots football, making it easier for everyone involved to stay informed and focus on the game.
